Today, I will be telling you about a typical leg workout I would do when I'm at the gym!
Working on legs, mainly hamstrings and glutes, is my favorite! I am really quad dominant, so I stray from doing quad-related exercises. Let's get into it!
When I get to the gym, I always warm up. I usually get on the elliptical for at least 10 minutes to warm up my leg muscles. After this, I go into the weight training room and do something that is called glute activation. Basically, what glute activation does is it awakens your butt muscles and warms them up in order to properly work out. I do glute activation for about 5 minutes and can really feel my glutes burn.
After I am done with glute activation, I move on to my workouts. I don't lift heavy, so when I squat and do deadlifts, I usually lift about 30-40 pounds. As for lunges, I don't do any weight so that I can focus on stability. And for the cable machine, I up the weight to 50 pounds. I like to do my exercises as supersets, which is where you do two exercises back to back without resting. My rest period is usually 1-2 minutes, depending on how heavy I am lifting or how tired I am during that set. My workouts usually last about an hour to an hour and a half. And of course, after I get done, I always stretch.
Here's a typical leg day set:
3 sets of 10: Sumo squat
3 sets of 10: Pointed toe deadlift
3 sets of 10: Sumo squat to deadlift
3 sets of 8: Curtsy lunges
3 sets of 10: Cable machine sumo squat
3 sets of 10: Cable machine deadlifts
