Time sure does fly by faster than you would think. I can't believe that in just a few short days, I will be done with my last first semester of senior year. Throughout this semester, I have learned a lot about myself. I've learned about different avenues that I am efficient or good at, and have also learned about what I dislike and will never want to attempt again. Social Media Strategies was one of the best classes I've taken since my time here at Appalachian State.
What I've learned from this class is something I will take with me and apply to the "real world." I've learned how to navigate Wix and create content; I've learned how to stay on top of my assignments and prioritize them externally; I've learned how to take thoughts and opinions from others and apply it to my own ideas; I've learned how to make a social media strategic plan for an organization that has almost to no exposure to platforms. However, the most important thing I've learned is the concept of branding and consistency. I think that applying this to my skills and what I expect for myself and acknowledge of other companies can potentially set me apart from others.
At the beginning of this semester, I listed out some goals and questions that I had for the journey of this class. I would say that my biggest accomplishments from my goals is becoming exposed and gaining new ideas and creativity in order to make content through all social media platforms, along with learning how to present myself in a professional, yet outgoing aspect.
A question that I listed out has been answered. However, it's been answered through personal and self-growth. The question was, "for someone who doesn't know exactly what they want to do, can a Communications degree give me the options and opportunities if I am keeping an open mind for what I want to do in the future?" And the answer is yes. That's what I love about having a Communications degree; my options are unlimited and there are multiple avenues with multiple other interests that I can pursue or focus on.
As this is the end result of this blog site, I am thankful that I've been able to experience this journey and become a better and more preserved version of me.
