As I start my senior year at the best university ever, I am super nervous but excited to get my last year started. This semester, I have decided to take Social Media Strategies in order to build my skills strategically and professionally for the "real world." As I start to engage myself more into social media, whether it's for personal or education purposes, I want to learn and gain as much experience and knowledge from this course.
My goals for this class include:
1. Learning how to present myself in a professional, yet outgoing aspect
2. Learning how to write and create content that is straight forward and to the point, but can still be enjoyable to read
3. Learning how to use popular and growing social media platforms more efficiently and effectively
4. Becoming exposed and gaining new ideas and creativity in order to make content through all social media platforms
5. Building on organization and time management skills in order to stay on track with all assignments
6. Having the assignments, mainly this blog, become something that I enjoy doing and want to do, rather than considering it as an required assignment that has to be done
Some questions that have been in my mind towards this class include:
1. What social media platform has become more popular for employers to get through to their employees and/or their followers?
2. What could be the best benefit from using social media in a career path, rather than using it for leisure?
3. For someone who grew up using social media and being exposed to new platforms and trends, would I have more of an advantage to learning how to facilitate social media into my career path?
4. Is it becoming harder to take the career path of a Social Media Director or Communications Specialist, or is it a career path that is growing in demand?
5. For someone who doesn't know exactly what they want to do, can a Communications degree give me the options and opportunities if I am keeping an open mind for what I want to do in the future?
6. Are there any qualifications/skills that could be very useful to a Communications career that would typically not be given as a required class?
