Changing my lifestyle was such a hard thing to do, and even after eight months, it's still one of the hardest changes I've been through.
In January, as a typical New Years resolution, I decided to start living a healthier lifestyle. My biggest goal was to lose weight and to start eating healthy. But what does eating healthy even mean? When I first started, eating healthy meant taking away all junk and fast food, eating salads and vegetables every day, and cutting out soda or any sweet drinks. Now, eating healthy means eating whole foods, learning how to portion meals, drinking water and not restricting myself of meals, snacks or desserts that I am craving.
With all that being said, it is still so hard for me to stay on track with the idea of living a healthier lifestyle. I usually eat healthy for four to five days, and then end up cutting that healthy diet off over the weekend. Once Monday arrives, it becomes a fresh new start for me to get back on track, or at least I want it to happen that way. There are weeks where I do really good, yet there are weeks that I do really bad.
After eight months of trying my best to change my lifestyle, I still find myself wondering why I've never been able to stick to my original goals and plans. Despite this, I have been able to convince myself that adapting to a healthier lifestyle isn't easy and it will never be easy. It's something that I will have to work at every single day, whether I am motivated or not. The hardest change will end up becoming one of the best changes to ever happen and that's a thought that I keep in mind as I continue my fitness journey.
